CamraMaan 5pts One of the things I like the most about Wilson is how quickly he's earned the respect and admiration of his fellow players, becoming a true leader... a guy the players look up to and really listen to. Its rare for a rookie quarterback to gain the attention and admiration of his teammates this fast, and to this degree. It speaks volumes about where he can go from here, and where this offense can go from here. tararize 5pts 2 Like Makes me proud to be a hawks fan! EduardoSantiago 5pts 2 Like How can you not love this guy! ColinProctor 5pts 3 Like This comment thread is so refreshing compared to a certain en eff el dot com. I really don't see how anyone can hate this guy. He is truly someone that I am proud to have as a part of this Northwest community. GO HAWKS! unitcaptain11 5pts 4 Like The Seahawks are not a "read option" offense. They didn't run it very much at all last year. But go ahead and keep thinking that's all they do.Russel Wilson tied the rookie TD pass record last year. On a team that was dead last in the NFL in pass attempts. If Luck or RG3 had tied that record, we would be hearing about it all off season. CamraMaan 5pts @unitcaptain11 Very well said... when you look at Wilson's last 8 games, not just compared to other rookie quarterbacks, but compared to ALL NFL quarterbacks, its a wonder he wasn't the front-runner for the rookie of the year award. Some said it matters more how strong you start, which is a crock of sh*t. Others said it was how well they played all 16 games, with no emphasis to the beginning or end. But as a rookie its about progression and development, and Wilson was leaps ahead of the competition. That tying of Peyton's rookie TD record was huge, especially for a QB who had the fewest pass attempts of any regular starting quarterback. Oh yeah, and he missed one and a half quarters in the 58-0 blowout against Arizona after he was pulled out for Flynn... the way that game was going, if we had of kept the throttle on Wilson easily could have had another passing TD. Same goes with Lynch being compared to Alfred Morris last year... Lynch was pulled a couple times and missed about three or so full quarters... so in terms of yardage Lynch should have had more... gary41 5pts 1 Like videos are not adequate..... Crashdavis 5pts Played fine on my iPhone. RW3 is LEGIT Baby! kdbarbershop 5pts 1 Like No matter who you like, Seattle San Francisco is going to be a great rivalry for years to come. Two games a year, and two coaches that can't stand one another. Throw in crap talkin' Sherman and you've got a volitile mix. The edge has to go to SF. Harbaugh is just a superior coach. CamraMaan 5pts @kdbarbershop Lets see how they both fare against each other this coming season... I have a feeling Frisco fans will be a little disappointed. They didn't know how to handle the Hawks the second time around, once the training wheels had come off of Wilson and the offense. I respect the Niners in that they are a good team. But I will not concede that Harbaugh is the better coach. Harbaugh is an asshole, a prick, a conceited dick... you get the idea... its only a matter of time before that reputation starts to have negative consequences for him in multiple facets of the game. ericwkillian 5pts I think the big question is how long before Harbaugh's intensity wears on people. In college you turn over the players so often tat it can work, but will Pros put it up with for 7 or 8 years? vasanth_n 5pts @ericwkillian Great point. But I think if he is successful like Belicheck or Cowher it adds to the aura and he might be ok. Crashdavis 5pts 1 Like Should be a great battle this season, but... Seattle has improved in the offseason and I can't say the Niners have. A lot of studs on that Niners defense, best linebackers in football. But I think Seattle top to bottom is deeper. And they won the last matchup 42-13. So I think I would give Seattle the SLIGHT edge. Either way, it is going to be AWESOME!! walter82 5pts @Crashdavis Boldin > Harvin walter82 5pts @Crashdavis Boldin - strong, clutch, reliable and can catch down the middle or deep with speed. Harvin - speed but inconsistent when making plays in the middle and worst of all injury proned... like his most recent injury. I wish him a speedy recovery. Crashdavis 5pts Different type of player. But Boldin is good. Touché. unitcaptain11 5pts @kdbarbershop It's a tie so far. They split the 2 games they played last season. ericwkillian 5pts And if Turbin doesn't drop that sure TD Hawks win them both Rlothrop 5pts Hey, PK. Loved the simplicity of your previous column. This new site may take awhile to get accustomed to, but remember - less can be more. The videos aren't playing, and I have Windows 8, and am using the stellar Firefox browser. What gives? One thing I loved about your column was that it was YOU. Now, you have other writers, which makes it not you, which is the best part of MMQ. ColinProctor 5pts @Rlothrop Yeah, the site is really buggy. Crashing my browser earlier, couldn't get to anything for a couple of hours. Being in the business, I bet there's a team scrambling to fix all the bugs right now. Crashdavis 5pts 2 Like How can you not love this guy? Wow, what an impressive guy! Oh yeah, the young man can absolutely SPIN IT too! IMHO, there is no comparison to that KID in San Fran. A talent no doubt, but has a LONG way to go to be on Wilson's level. GO HAWKS! CamraMaan 5pts @Crashdavis It'll be very interesting to see how both Wilson and Kaepernick progress this year in their second seasons as starters... its easy to expect both to throw more, yet both retain so much value in their ability to run and stretch the defense. Kaepernick will probably run for more yards, and a higher yd/carry, but Wilson will stay healthy longer... he's a smarter runner. Azeron 5pts 2 Like @Crashdavis Wilson is just smarter. He would have been a first round pick if he were just six three. Teams talked themselves out of drafting him higher. Hell, the Seahawks were ridiculed for taking him as high as they did. That's just Pete Carroll reaching they said. He who laughs last... Kevin O 5pts @Azeron@CrashdavisKaepernick scored 37 on his Wonderlic to Wilson's 28. I don't think Wilson is smarter. But he may be street smarter, which seems like an odd thing to say when CK has all the tats. Wilson may just be that guy who cares more about winning than anything, a Unitas or Montana or Magic that all he wants is victory whereas some guys need to show off a bit. We'll see. But SF will be a tough go with one 10 am start to the Hawks 5 in 2013. c9 5pts 1 Like Go Hawks.Kaep and Wilson will do battle for the next 7 years or so of their careers but Wilson is clearly the more composed and settled of the two.He realizes he's part of a giant corporation and brand and he's married whereas I think Kaep is enjoying a little Johnny Manziel time but has a better surrounding cast and, ugh (hate saying it), coach. I hate Harbaugh but I'd rather have him than Carroll. Hell, he made Alex Smith good. That alone should put him in the Hall of Fame and his guys play really hard and disciplined football. I think most of the nation has Week 2 circled for what might be the hardest-hitting game of the season. NFC goes through the West this year. MichaelEggerling 5pts 2 Like I just feel so empty inside because I am not best friends with Russell Wilson. Go Hawks! UDub9 5pts 3 Like Go Hawks! That's right, baby. BigSchtick 5pts Breath of fresh air.... ken.burnside 5pts 3 Like "Wilson or Kaepernick?""Yes.""No, really, who do you think is better?""Foot speed and quickness on his release? Kaepernick. Mental preparation and leadership? Wilson. Everything else is pretty even, and they're both top 10 talents in the "Everything Else" category. I look forward to the teams playing three times this year.""Who doesn't?""The Cardinals and Rams.""Anything else?""Yeah. Atlanta, Minnesota, Washington, Green Bay and San Francisco owe former Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt fruit baskets. That week one loss at Arizona is the only thing that kept the NFC playoffs from going through Seattle." walter82 5pts @ken.burnside don't underestimate Kaep's leadership and intelligence because he doesn't fit the mold of a prototypical QB (clean cut/no tats) he was a 4.3 GPA guy an earned a business management degree at Nevada. I'm a 49ers fan and have always liked Wilson since Wisconsin, just wish he would've been taken by another team lol but if you played football you know athleticism, size and strength does matter so you have to give the edge to Kaep but we'll see. Should be a great season for both teams. CamraMaan 5pts @walter82 @ken.burnside Kaepernick is a dangerous runner... and not from the defensive perspective, from a health perspective. Its a matter of time before he gets blindsided on a run and has to start running less to stay safe. Wilson, on the other hand, honestly seems like he has eyes in the back of his head. He's a very safe and smart runner, rarely getting a defensive touch of any significance once he crosses the line of scrimmage. He gets enough yards to get the job done, then only as many more as he can safely manage... Kaepernick is looking for the end zone too often, albeit so far with success, but its a matter of time before he miscalculates and gets hit REAL hard... by one of my Seahawks defensive backs. :) Crashdavis 5pts UNDENIABLY??? Really? Can you say HOMER?!? Wilson is a better QB. CK is a tremendous athlete, but QB IS WAY MORE THAT. If you poll all NFL Gm's by end of season, 75% will say Wilson over CK. walter82 5pts @CamraMaan @walter82 @ken.burnside I don't know if you only watch Kaep play when he plays seattle but you do know he threw for 1800+ yds 10 tds 3 int in 7! regular season games and I'm sure you don't forget what he did in the playoffs. So to say he's just a runner is absurd lol you base your opinion on what you watch on espn or read on blogs and magazines. I played football and love football. I watched EVERY game. Like I said before I like Wilson and think he had a great season and hope he has another great season but I'm talking about solely who has the biggest upside and it's undeniably Kaep. walter82 5pts @CamraMaan @walter82 @ken.burnside good luck lol I don't recall him getting tackled much..I mostly recall defenders reading the back of his jersey as he ran into the end zone! week 2!!! dhawker08 5pts 3 Like Very intelligent and focused QB. Really gets it. BriannaBannanna 5pts 2 Like Blessed to have him as one of the leaders of our team. Wouldn't have it any other way. Thunder7ga 5pts 2 Like Wilson is a great guy, player and a steal by Seattle at #75 last year. Just because he was a little shorter than what teams thought a typical QB needed to be in today's game. RG3 needs to listen to what he said about the reasons for running and protecting himself and the team. I hope to see both Wilson and RG3 (hopefully healthy this time) match up again this year in the playoffs.
